Evanston

This North Shore community is one of Chicago’s hottest suburban neighborhoods found just 10 miles north of downtown Chicago.  It’s been featured in John Hughes’ Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Home Alone 3 and even Mean Girls.  But the real deal is of course way better.  It is one well-kept secret, a lakefront community that adjoins Lake Michigan.  It has wonderful shopping and dining opportunities with restaurants, boutiques, bars, movie theaters and unique shops available to its residents and visitors.  It was the site of the first Marshall Field’s and Sears stores and remains an important shopping destination in the North Side of Chicago.  Most commercial businesses could be found on Central and Main Street and Chicago Avenue.  Evanston is home to the famous Northwestern University and various businesses catering the the needs of its students and faculty.  It is also home to world famous football team, the Wild Cats.

This beautiful community boasts of modern and 19th century architecture.  Real estate consists of single family homes, lofts, high-rises, courtyards and a lot more.  It was known in history as one of the first streetcar suburbs.  Today, transportation is served by CTA and Pace buses, and the Metra Station.  The Loop, Chicago’s government and business district, is just a 25-minute train ride and by Lake Shore Drive it is just 30 minutes away.

Within this neighborhood are a lot of interesting places that do not have residents asking for more.  If you’re out to find the best books or antiques, Comix Revolution and George Ritzlin Maps and Prints are available for residents and visitors.  Leisure time is best spent at Merle’s Barbeque and Tommy Nevins Pub.  But if you’re out looking for a splash of excitement on your everyday menu, downtown offers an array of restaurants that will satisfy any palette.
