Lincoln Square

Named after the city’s largest park, Lincoln Square is known as one the most popular neighborhoods in Chicago. It is located on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois and boasts Victorian homes, private residences and small apartment buildings that give it a small-town feel.  Its population is roughly 44,000 residents and 1,000 small and medium-sized businesses.  A variety of restaurants and shops are located at Lincoln Avenue, southeast of the commercial heart of Lincoln Square, the intersection of Lawrence, Western and Lincoln Avenues.  It used to be known for its German-influenced culture but is now catering to Thai and Middle Eastern cultures.  It is still however populated with German businesses like the Chicago Brauhaus, Merz Apothecary and Lutz Café and Bakery.  It has a lovely stretch of small shops that cater to vintage interests, antiques and other bizarre items like wooden toys and old jazz records and vintage clothing.

Lincoln Square is rarely visited by boredom with its wonderful array of shopping venues and restaurants with parks, beaches and running paths.  It is also home to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Chicago Historical Society.  Some other points of interest are the Sulzer Regional Library, Old Town School of Folk Music and the Berlin Wall Exhibit.  Events in this neighborhood include Lincoln Square Summer Concert Series, German-American Fest and Christmas Tree Lighting in the Square. It is not necessary for residents to own cars because of the easily accessible “L” stops and several bus lines that make the neighborhood accessible for residents and visitors alike.  With its wide range of options for families, college students and professionals in terms of housing, Lincoln Square stands to retain its status as one of Chicago’s most popular neighborhoods.
